Annual Kelsey Saturday
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. On October 11, 2005 despite nine months of documented abuse, Kelsey Briggs died, becoming one of 47 Oklahoma children who fell through the cracks of the very system put in
place to
protect them. As stated on the website created in her memory, www.KelseysPurpose.org, “she was put here to make a difference
- to make
sure other children are protected.” the reform that has already begun following her tragic passing. The people she left behind and the people she never
met have
united to stand against child abuse—to make sure other children,
all children, are protected. organized on a community level and are responsible for distributing child abuse awareness and prevention information. Groups also distribute Kelsey's signature heart-shaped stickers bearing her name, image and the Kelsey's Purpose
website.
Each group gathers a list of resources local to their area

Annual Kelsey Briggs Run Against Child Abuse Held annually, the Kelsey Briggs Run Against Child Abuse is an event created to remember Kelsey Briggs. This is the major fundraiser for The Kelsey Briggs Foundation.

Directions: I-40 east of Oklahoma City. Exit Harrah Newalla Road. Turn left at the stop sign. Go 6 miles to NE 10th Street. Turn left and go 1/2 mile. Turn left at sign that says "Lions Park." Turn left again, go to end of the road and turn right into the park.
