Against Child Abuse Held annually in October, the Kelsey Briggs Run Against Child Abuse is an event created to remember Kelsey Briggs and is sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse Okahoma.

5K Run begins at 8:00 a.m. 1 Mile fun run/walk begins at 9:30 a.m. following the run
Honorary Chair Person: Tommie Harris (University of Oklahoma, Chicago Bears)
Course: 5k-USATF SANCTIONED & CERTIFIED. CHAMPIONCHIP TIMED.
Fees: $20 if registered by October 23, 2009; $25 if registering the day of the run
Registration Closing Date: Thursday, October 22, 2009 @ 11:59 p.m.
Race Day Registration will open @ 7:00 am the 24th Oct 09 @ Chesapeake Boathouse.
Children are welcome.
T-shirts will be sold for $10 (All runner participants will receive a T-shirt as part of their registration).
Awards: Medal by age group.
Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd.
All proceeds benefit Prevent Child Abuse Oklahoma.

5th Annual Kelsey
Saturday
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. On October 11, 2005 despite nine months of documented abuse, Kelsey Briggs died, becoming one of 47 Oklahoma children who fell through the cracks of the very system put in
place to protect them. As stated on the website created in her memory, www.KelseysPurpose.org, “she was put here to make a difference
- to make sure other
children are protected.” the reform that has already begun following her tragic passing. The people she left behind and the people she never
met have united to stand
against child abuse—to make sure other children, all children, are
protected. organized on a community level and are responsible for distributing child abuse awareness and prevention information. Groups also distribute Kelsey's signature heart-shaped stickers bearing her name, image and the Kelsey's Purpose
website. Each group gathers a list of
resources local to their area which is distributed with the
